Uniting for Impact: A Day of Service and Solidarity in Dumagat Tribe Community in DRT Bulacan

On August 24, 2025, members of the Rotary Club of Luntiang Maynila Prime, District 3810, embarked on a heartfelt journey to the Dumagat Tribe Community in DRT Bulacan, exemplifying the true spirit of service and unity. Led by UCP Rod Jason Señoron, the club’s President, and CP Elberto Regis, chairman of the Regis Foundation, the project—titled “Uniting Impact”—aimed to foster environmental sustainability, improve health and education, and strengthen community bonds.

The day began early, with departure from Manila at 6:00 am. As the convoy made its way to DRT Bulacan, anticipation grew among volunteers who understood the significance of their mission: to uplift and empower an indigenous community through collective effort and compassion.

Upon arrival at the project site, the first activity was a symbolic tree planting. Volunteers eagerly dug holes and carefully planted native trees, promoting environmental sustainability and supporting the Rotary’s ambitious goal of achieving Net-Zero emissions by 2040. This act of greening the earth not only contributed to ecological preservation but also cultivated hope for future generations.

Next, the team proceeded to the area designated for a future water reservoir—located in Sitio Tubigan and Sitio Cambubuyugan, Barangay Kalawakan. Here, volunteers undertook a comprehensive clean-up drive, removing debris and ensuring the site was ready for its vital purpose: providing clean, accessible water to the community. This effort directly addressed one of the community’s pressing needs—safe water access—thus promoting health and hygiene.

Recognizing the importance of addressing immediate needs, the team prepared and served delicious “supas”—traditional Filipino soups—to the indigenous families. This gesture of nourishment was a temporary relief from hunger, reinforcing the community’s resilience and the project’s commitment to holistic support.

Education remains a cornerstone of sustainable development. To that end, the Rotary team distributed school supplies—books, notebooks, and writing materials—to local students. These resources aimed to encourage learning and empower the youth, fostering a brighter future for the community.

Health and wellness were also prioritized. The volunteers distributed vitamins and over-the-counter medicines, helping boost the health of the indigenous families. Ensuring access to basic healthcare supplies is vital in vulnerable communities, preventing illness and promoting overall well-being.

In addition, groceries and rice were handed out to families struggling with insufficient income. This immediate support aimed to alleviate some of the economic hardships faced by the community, giving families a chance to focus on rebuilding and growth.

The day’s activities culminated in a warm fellowship held at the Regis Residence in Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija. Hosted graciously by CP Elberto Regis and his spouse, Rtn. Anicia Joson Regis, the gathering provided an opportunity for reflection, camaraderie, and planning future endeavors. It was a perfect ending to a day marked by service, unity, and the collective impact of a dedicated group committed to making a difference.

The “Uniting Impact” project exemplifies how collaboration and compassion can transform lives and communities. Through environmental efforts, health initiatives, education support, and community engagement, the Rotary Club of Luntiang Maynila Prime demonstrated that unity truly is the power to create lasting change. As they returned home, the volunteers carried not just memories but renewed hope—for a greener planet, healthier communities, and a more connected world.
