Rotary District 3790 Governor Ronald Dy inducts Former Chief of Police as President of Rotary Club of Creative City Baguio
A former Chief of Police known for his leadership, integrity, and dedicated public service took his oath as the new president of the Rotary Club of Creative City Baguio on August 18, 2026.
Police Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Samson Menecio Sungduan Amistad, a former Chief of Police in several municipalities of Ilocos Norte accepted the baton of leadership from Immediate Past President and Ex Officio Alah Soledad Sungduan during the 6th Induction and Turnover Ceremonies of the club at Baguio Country Club.
In his inaugural address, Amistad stressed on the importance of adhering to the principal motto of Rotary, Service Above Self and embracing the Rotary theme "Create Lasting Impact.
"As we begin this new chapter, let us remain guided by Rotary's enduring ideal of Service Above Self. Together, let us embrace every opportunity to Create Lasting Impact not only within our club but also in the hearts of the people and communities we are privileged to serve,” he said.
Amistad who is known for his extensive experience as a respected voice on issues of peace, governance, and community empowerment also emphasized on the need for unity among all members in realizing Rotary's theme.
"Together, let us continue to Create Lasting Impact through service, fellowship, and leadership," he added.
No less than Rotary International District 3790 Governor Ronald Dy led the induction of officers of the club led by Amistad with Club Secretary Tanisha Amistad, President-Elect Joel Banosan, and Directors Jerry Chan, Audrey Sungduan, Angelyn Sungduan, Ruby Gunn, Marissa Bomogao, Marvin Padaoan, and Ester Mostrales.
In his message, Gov. Dy lauded the RC Creative City Baguio for their resourcefulness on finding ways to fund their projects which are equally impressive.
Meanwhile, RI District 3790 Cluster 1C Assistant Governor Chris Fernado Faelnar led the charging and induction of the 8 new members of the club who are Baguio City Councilors Joel Alangsab and Van Dicang, Atty. Guillermo Dulay, Diana Rose Banosan, Joan Padaoan, Harvie Merca, Lizette Merca, and Wilbur Munar.
Earlier during the Governor’s visit to the club, both Gov. Dy and AG Faelnar lauded RC Creative City Baguio for their passion and dedication underscoring the impactful and sustainable projects they have accomplished despite being small and young club.
Dy’s vision and dream for district 3790 is for every Rotarian to feel they truly belong, where every club is respected regardless of its size, where clubs are trusted to lead and empowered to serve in the ways that best respond to the needs of their communities, and that there is room for every star and together, they can fill the sky with hope and become full of stars.
