Last October 2025, in celebration of Economic and Community Development Month, the Rotary Club of Mutya ng Pasig (RCMP), in collaboration with the Barangay Palatiw Council Committee on Livelihood and ONELGBT Pasig, launched two meaningful livelihood projects to support residents of Barangay Palatiw, Pasig City.
The initiatives—“Kumikitang Bula: DIY Dishwashing Liquid Making and Training” held on October 5, 2025, and “Bloom and Prosper: Artificial Flower Arrangement and Christmas Décor Workshop” held on October 20, 2025—were designed to provide practical skills and income-generating opportunities for members of the HOA Federation of Palatiw, AKAPP Federation Palatiw Chapter, and the Women Brigade of Palatiw.
During the Kumikitang Bula session, participants were guided through the step-by-step process of making dishwashing liquid.
Each attendee received a starter kit, empowering them to immediately apply their new skills—whether for personal use or to begin a small-scale business.
RCMP and the Palatiw Council further committed to assisting residents in finding customers, ensuring that their efforts could translate into sustainable livelihood.
The Bloom and Prosper workshop went beyond crafting. It became a celebration of creativity, inclusivity, and community spirit. Persons with Disabilities, senior citizens, and other residents learned decorative techniques that transformed simple materials and artificial flowers into beautiful arrangements. More than artistry, the workshop instilled pride and confidence, showing participants that with patience and imagination, they could create pieces that brighten homes, uplift spirits, and even serve as sources of income. These skills are especially valuable during the holiday season, but equally meaningful for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions throughout the year.
The success of these programs was made possible through strong partnerships with local leaders, including Kagawad Dory Cruz, the Palatiw Barangay Council, and Punong Barangay Eriberto “Bobot” Guevarra. RCMP leaders who played key roles included Project Chair PE John Kiel Cruz, GP Blesee Tech, AG Lolet Austria, PP Leriza Revilla, and PP Cathay Tech. Their dedication, together with the support of community sectors and hardworking barangay staff, ensured the initiatives’ impact.
Through these livelihood programs, families in Palatiw gained not only practical knowledge but also the confidence to pursue small-scale enterprises—proving that when Rotary partners with the community, opportunities are created and lives are transformed.
