Rotary Club of Creative City Baguio sets up Elders Quick Aid and Wellness Hub in Tuba as kickoff activity
The Rotary Club of Creative City Baguio (RCCCB) begins the Rotary New Year 2026-2027 by setting up an Elders Quick Aid and Wellness Hub at the barangay hall of Nangalisan, Tuba Benguet on July 1, 2026.
RCCCB’s president Samson Amistad, a retired Philippine National Police Colonel who is also from the municipality led the project kickoff in line with Rotary International’s theme “Create Lasting Impact” and in partnership with the Barangay LGU.
He said more than 350 senior citizens will benefit from the quick aid and wellness hub that will provide medicine, dental care, and emergency services to the target beneficiaries.
“We came here to serve that’s it. This is for the benefit of the senior citizens who are also just like me. I just turned senior citizen,” Amistad said.
Amistad together with his daughter Club Secretary Tanisha Amistad and members and officers of RCCCB turned over medicines, multivitamins, digital blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, and collapsible stretcher to Nangalisan Barangay Captain Lee Burgen Tumpao.
The club will also provide a dental chair in partnership with dentist Dr. Clarita Semon Banas who will also conduct clinical services for the elders.
Added activity in the project kickoff was a lecture from the Office of the Senior Citizens (OSCA) Tuba headed by Dr. Joan Culbengan who discussed on how to access government services such as the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program or YAKAP through eGov PH Super App.
RCCCB’s Director and the Blind Gardener of Baguio Ruby Gunn on the other hand shared tips on how to maintain patience, good health, and urban gardening as parr of the Community Economic and Community Development Program.
Meanwhile, Tumpao conveyed his deep appreciation for the assistance provided for his constituents.
“This is a big help. Although the barangay has budget for medicines, this is still not enough,” Tumpao said.
Barangay Kagawad and Nangalisan Senior Citizen Association President Aurelio Tamsi also expressed his gratitude for the generous assistance of RCCCB and for choosing their community for the said program.
Amistad also led the turnover of some portable apparatus to a hospital in Benguet as part of their club’s kickoff program.
