In the aftermath of Typhoon Tino, communities across Cebu faced extensive damage to homes and properties, forcing many families into evacuation centers and creating an urgent need for humanitarian assistance. In response, the Rotary Club of Cebu South (RCCS) swiftly mobilized a relief operation that reflected Rotary’s enduring commitment to disaster response, compassion, and community resilience.
On November 8, 2025, members of RCCS, together with officers of the Philippine Association of Real Estate Boards (PAREB) and the Cebu Real Estate Board (CEREB), conducted a relief visit to the evacuation center at Northview Christian Fellowship in Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City. The activity formed part of Rotary’s immediate response to the typhoon’s impact, allowing volunteers to assess conditions on the ground while extending much‑needed support to displaced families.
The relief effort was strengthened through the collaboration of multiple partners, including EastWest Rural Bank, former Cebu Tourism Head Cinbeth Orellano, McKaye Dela Cruz, 2nd Runner‑Up of Miss Cebu 2024, and Kiara Liane Wellington, 4th Runner‑Up of Miss Cebu 2025. Their involvement highlighted the critical role of partnerships between civic organizations, private institutions, and community leaders in effective disaster response operations.
With the support of generous donors and Rotary District 3860 DMI, RCCS successfully distributed relief goods to approximately 200 families temporarily sheltered at the evacuation center. The assistance included food packs, towels, blankets, vitamins, medicines, and drinking water—essential supplies aimed at addressing immediate needs and helping families cope during the early stages of recovery.
Beyond the provision of material aid, the relief mission emphasized the human side of disaster response. RCCS members took time to engage with evacuees, listen to their experiences, and offer encouragement. This direct interaction reinforced Rotary’s belief that presence, empathy, and moral support are vital components of humanitarian action, particularly in the aftermath of natural disasters.
The Typhoon Tino relief operation underscored the effectiveness of coordinated action during emergencies. By uniting Rotary clubs, partner organizations, and community stakeholders, the mission demonstrated how collective efforts can ease suffering and restore dignity to those affected by calamities.
As Cebu communities continue their path toward recovery, the Rotary Club of Cebu South remains committed to supporting disaster response initiatives that provide timely assistance and promote resilience. Guided by the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self, RCCS stands ready to respond whenever communities face crisis—bringing not only relief goods, but also hope and solidarity when they are needed most.
