Updated: Aug 21

On the evening of July 2, 2025, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris proudly participated in the Rotary Club of Metro Cebu’s 47th Induction and Turnover Ceremonies held at the prestigious Cebu Parklane International Hotel. This significant event marked a new chapter of leadership and service for the club, inspiring all attendees with a renewed commitment to Rotary’s core values.

Representing the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris at this landmark occasion were President Roxene Rosario, Secretary Dorothy Borces, Assistant Governor Christine Tan Ashby, and Past District Governor Lilu Aliño. Their attendance reflected the strong camaraderie and collaborative spirit that unite Rotary clubs throughout Cebu.

The celebration began with a solemn Holy Mass, setting a reflective and reverent tone for the evening. Following this, the formal program was called to order by outgoing President Emma A. Ramas, who ushered in the evening’s proceedings with grace and enthusiasm. Rotarian Adrian Lee then led the assembly in the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test, a timeless ethical guide that continues to inspire Rotarians worldwide.

Acknowledgments were made to dignitaries, visiting Rotarians, and guests, highlighting the spirit of fellowship that defines Rotary. Past Assistant Governor Jonathan Zabate delivered the welcome remarks, warmly embracing all attendees and setting the stage for a memorable evening.

As the guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner accompanied by a special musical performance, the program transitioned to the heart of the event—the induction of new members. Introduced with pride, the new Rotarians were formally charged by Past President Josefina Zabate and inducted by Past Assistant Governor Dr. Wyben R. Briones, symbolizing their official entry into the Rotary family and their commitment to service above self.

The evening’s momentum continued with an inspiring public service message from Cebu City Mayor Nestor Dionson Archival Sr., who emphasized the vital role of Rotary in community development.

The crowd was further uplifted by the heartfelt and motivational address from the People’s Governor, Pamela “Pam” Silagan Baricuatro, whose words resonated deeply with all present.

Recognition was given to outgoing leaders through the presentation of certificates and tokens of appreciation, followed by the valedictory address from President Emma A. Ramas. Her reflections on the past year’s achievements and challenges served as a testament to the club’s resilience and dedication.

The baton of leadership was then passed as Assistant Governor Glenda M. Antonio introduced the incoming president, Evelyn T. Nuñez. The new president was formally charged by Past District Governor Lilu Aliño and inducted by District Governor Angel “Jong” Fernandez, symbolizing a seamless transition and a hopeful future.

In a show of unity and shared purpose, the officers, board of directors, and committee chairs were charged by District Secretary Christine Chua and inducted by President Nuñez herself. The ceremonial turnover and acceptance of the gavel marked the official start of the new Rotary year.

President Evelyn T. Nuñez delivered her inaugural message with passion and vision, outlining her goals to strengthen the club’s impact and deepen its community engagement. District Governor Fernandez followed with an encouraging message, reinforcing the importance of leadership and service in Rotary’s mission.

The evening concluded on a celebratory note with a closing remark and ceremonial toast led by Past President Dr. Vicente Gabriel C. Balbuena, sealing the event with fellowship and optimism.

The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris’ participation in this landmark event not only exemplified the strong bonds between Rotary clubs in Cebu but also reinforced their shared commitment to creating positive change. As the Rotary Club of Metro Cebu embarks on a new year under President Nuñez’s leadership, Cebu Gloria Maris stands ready to support and collaborate in advancing Rotary’s enduring mission of service above self.
