In response to the landslides and erosion brought by continuous heavy rains, the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands quickly mobilized to support affected communities and frontline responders. Reports from various barangays indicated that a total of 98 families or 412 individuals have been affected, with several homes either partially or totally damaged.
Among the hardest-hit areas are Virac with 56 families affected and 15 totally damaged homes, Irisan with 31 families, and Ampucao with 25 families including one home totally destroyed. Additional families were displaced from San Luis, Camp 7, Upper Market, Dominican, Loacan, Poblacion, and Tinongdan.
Upon receiving the updated situation from barangay leaders, the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands immediately extended support to rescuers and volunteers on the ground. Despite the stormy weather, the club provided 50 packed dinners, 100 bottles of water, and 100 coffee to those tirelessly working in the field. The simple yet heartfelt gesture was a reminder that even in moments of distress, compassion and solidarity shine through.
"The rain may pour, but blessings pour even harder when people come together," said AG Anna Liza Chan, one Rotary member.
Undeterred by the challenging weather, the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands exemplified its commitment to Service Above Self, standing with both the evacuees and the heroes aiding them in their time of need.
