Rotary Club of Bacolod celebrates 52nd Boys & Girls Week with City Government

The Rotary Club of Bacolod, in partnership with the City Government of Bacolod, proudly celebrated the 52nd Boys & Girls Week. This annual event, held from November 18 to 22, 2024, aims to cultivate leadership skills and promote good governance among the youth.


The event was graced by Past President and Hon. City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who inducted the elected and appointed Boys and Girls officials during the flag ceremony on November 18. Familiaran also delivered the keynote message, emphasizing the importance of youth leadership. 


The ceremony was attended by Rotary Club of Bacolod members, led by President Marjorie Dino, along with parents, teachers, and government employees.


This year’s elected officials include Girl Mayor Libby Ponce Tangco from St. John’s Institute and Girl City Vice Mayor Lorein Althea Opelario from STI West Negros University. They are joined by 14 City Councilors and appointed Department Heads, representing various schools across Bacolod.


The inducted officials are:

- Noelle Cassandra Apuhin – Tay Tung High School

Hon. City Mayor Albee Benitez, along with City Councilors Al Victor Espino, Jude Thaddeus Sayson, and Israel Salanga, welcomed the student participants and provided inspirational messages.


For over five decades, the Boys & Girls Week program has been instrumental in training students in effective leadership and governance. 


The young officials will have the opportunity to serve the City of Bacolod, participate in planning, pass resolutions, and engage with their counterparts and subordinates.


This year’s event was hosted by Rotarian Hana Isabella Hautea.
