Rotary Club of Aseana Manila Partners with IMCOM to Expand Reforestation Across 16 Military Camps

As part of its growing commitment to climate action, the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila has entered into a promising partnership with Installation Management Command (IMCOM) of the Philippine Army, headed by Major General Florante Sison, to scale up its tree planting initiative across 16 military camps.

The meeting, held at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija, opened a strategic conversation around maximizing underutilized land for long-term environmental regeneration. The collaboration will cover thousands of hectares of military-owned land—a bold and forward-looking move aimed at increasing forest cover, capturing carbon, and strengthening the country’s climate resilience.

This initiative expands on RC Aseana Manila’s flagship project, “Tree Planting for Climate Adaptation and Food Security,” which was launched in July 2025 with an initial 200-hectare coconut plantation.

Through this broader partnership, the Rotary club aims to bring its climate advocacy to scale—turning military reservations into living carbon sinks that contribute to national and global climate goals.

Major General Sison expressed strong alignment with the project’s vision, emphasizing the Philippine Army’s readiness to serve not just as defenders of the nation, but as stewards of its natural resources. The camps—many of which have idle or degraded lands—offer ideal terrain for managed reforestation and climate-smart agriculture.

By joining forces, the Army and Rotary are demonstrating how civic-military collaboration can drive systemic change. For Rotary Club of Aseana Manila, the partnership signals a new phase of its environmental mission: one rooted in service, strengthened by science, and scaled through solidarity.

As Rotary continues to place Supporting the Environment at the forefront of service priorities, initiatives like this reinforce a clear message—climate action is not a side project, but a shared responsibility.
