Rotary at Work: RC Tagum North Highlights Service, Sustainability, and Stronger Rotary Commitment

The Rotary Club of Tagum North held its 4th General Membership Meeting and Assistant Governor’s Visit on August 18, 2026, bringing together Rotary leaders, environmental advocates, and members in a meaningful gathering centered on service, accountability, sustainability, and the continuing commitment to Service Above Self.

The meeting was graced by Assistant Governor Agripino G. Coquilla as Guest Speaker. His visit provided an important opportunity for the club to reaffirm its commitment to the goals and responsibilities of Rotary International and District 3860, while strengthening fellowship and collaboration among Rotarians.

Also present during the meeting were distinguished guests and partners who shared valuable insights and inspiration on service and environmental stewardship.

PP Bertel Ingmar Bertelsen of the Rotary Club of Manila delivered a presentation on the Designated Gift Grant, providing members with a better understanding of opportunities to support meaningful Rotary projects through strategic and purposeful giving.

The gathering also welcomed President Lea A. Jimenez of the Rotary Club of Pujada Bay, a Filipino environmental scientist and conservationist based at Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) in Mati, Davao Oriental. Dr. Jimenez is also associated with the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG), reflecting her continuing engagement in environmental sustainability and conservation.

Another notable guest was Ulrich Kronberg, a German environmentalist, journalist, publisher, and founder of the Mama Earth Foundation, a Davao-based Philippine nonprofit organization dedicated to reforestation, mangrove restoration, and community-based environmental initiatives. The foundation has been actively involved in mangrove rehabilitation in Mati and Baganga, Davao Oriental, as well as reforestation and livelihood programs that engage local communities. Its environmental work demonstrates how sustained partnerships can create lasting benefits for both people and ecosystems.

In his message, RC Tagum North President Robyn Nino D. Pereyras shared the club’s new approach to its presentation this Rotary Year. Instead of lengthy reports, the club will highlight key projects and activities that demonstrate its commitment to meaningful service.

He also affirmed the club’s compliance with its financial obligations to Rotary International and District 3860, and reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling all Rotary requirements and responsibilities. President Pereyras emphasized that much of the club’s information is now accessible through the RI and District Dashboards, making reporting more transparent, efficient, and accessible.

He concluded that the club’s focus is simple: less time on information already available online, and more focus on demonstrating the impact of Rotary service through meaningful projects and activities.
