RC San Fernando La Union Responds to Typhoon Emong Aftermath, Provides Aid and Clean Water to Evacuees

Following the onslaught of Typhoon Emong, the Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union (RCSFLU) conducted an ocular inspection across the city and reported that hundreds of residents were displaced, seeking temporary shelter in various evacuation centers.

Among those assisted were 474 evacuees at Catbangen Central School, 133 at the La Union Convention Center, 35 at Barangay Pagudpud Hall, and 242 were sheltered at Ilocanos Norte Elementary School.

In immediate response, RCSFLU launched relief operations, distributing food packs, bottled water, banigs (woven sleeping mats), vitamins, and essential medicines to evacuees and vulnerable sectors of the community.

The club also activated its flagship “Water for Life” Project, providing free, clean, and safe drinking water to residents of Barangays Poro, San Agustin, Catbangen, and Ilocanos Norte, where water access was severely disrupted. The initiative played a critical role in preventing waterborne diseases during the emergency.
