The Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union (RCSFLU) officially launched Rotary Year 2025 with the impactful “Handog sa Kabataan” Project, held at Sibuan-otong Integrated School. The initiative, conducted in partnership with the Inner Wheel Club of San Fernando La Union and the energetic Rotakids, reached and inspired more than 95 learners, parents, and teachers, setting the tone for a year rooted in compassion and collective service.
Bringing Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus to life, the project offered a meaningful, multi-faceted experience for the school community:
Youth – Make a Child Smile: Fun activities and moments of joy uplifted and empowered young minds.
Maternal and Child Health: A talk on the Importance of Milk Drinking was paired with free milk distribution.
Environment: Students received vegetable seeds for their “Gulayan ng Paaralan,” encouraging sustainability and environmental awareness.
Peace and Conflict Resolution: The “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully” campaign taught values of friendship, inclusion, and respect.
Basic Education and Literacy: School supplies were donated to support students’ academic growth.
Clean Water and Sanitation: Learners were taught proper hygiene through a hand washing lecture and demonstration.
Disease Prevention and Treatment: Vitamins were distributed to boost health and immunity.
Community Development: A shared meal strengthened the spirit of unity and kindness across the school.
With the unwavering support of Rotarians, Inner Wheel members, and Rotakids, “Handog sa Kabataan” showcased how impactful service becomes when organizations and hearts align.
As RCSFLU steps boldly into the new Rotary Year, this project becomes a shining reflection of Rotary’s call to “Unite for Good”—proving that when we work together for a cause greater than ourselves, even the smallest acts can spark lasting change.
The impact of the Handog sa Kabataan project was deeply felt across the school community. Children were not only provided with essential school supplies, nutrition, and health support, but also empowered with valuable lessons on hygiene, kindness, and confidence. Parents gained practical knowledge on health and wellness, while teachers welcomed strengthened support for holistic education. The interactive lectures and shared experiences fostered a positive, inclusive environment where learning went beyond the classroom—promoting values of care, responsibility, and hope.
