In line with its commitment to sustainable community development, the Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union (RCSFLU) conducted an Orientation and Briefing on Hydroponics Essentials for members of Rotary Community Corps Abut on March 10. The activity aimed to further equip the community members with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to manage and sustain their hydroponics project.
The orientation was organized to ensure that RCC members are fully aware and capable of properly cultivating and maintaining their Hydroponics Farm, a project initiated and supported by RCSFLU for their adopted community. The session focused on the fundamentals of hydroponic farming, including plant nutrition, system maintenance, and the proper handling of seedlings during the growing cycle.
During the briefing, participants revisited the step-by-step process of seed germination, transplanting, nutrient management, and monitoring plant growth. The discussion also highlighted the importance of teamwork and consistency in managing the hydroponic system to ensure healthy crop production.
Encouragingly, the RCC members recently celebrated the successful harvest of their first batch of crops, marking a milestone for the community-led project. Building on this success, the group continues to move forward with the cultivation process, having already transplanted seedlings up to batch four, demonstrating their growing confidence and commitment in managing the hydroponics farm.
