RC Naga Heights launches DiskwenTulong Card, turning everyday savings into lasting community impact

EVERY DISCOUNT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

A discount on a cup of coffee, a meal, a hotel stay, a medical service, or even a haircut may seem like a small thing.

But what if every opportunity to save could also help create opportunities for others?

That is the idea behind the DiskwenTulong Card, or DTC, the flagship resource-generation initiative of the Rotary Club of Naga Heights for Rotary Year 2026–2027.

Built around a simple concept, Save More. Help More., the DiskwenTulong Card connects Rotary, local businesses, and the community in a shared ecosystem where everyday savings can help support meaningful service projects.

The initiative was formally launched during the 6th District Governor’s Visit of the Rotary Club of Naga Heights, with District Governor Eric B. Santos receiving DTC-2026-00001, the First Honorary DiskwenTulong Card.

The symbolic first card marked the beginning of an initiative that RCNH hopes will change the way people look at resource generation for service.

For years, Rotary clubs have relied on fundraising activities, sponsorships, donations, and partnerships to sustain community projects. The DiskwenTulong Card builds on these traditions while introducing another possibility: creating a mechanism that gives value not only to Rotary, but also to the people and businesses participating in it. Cardholders gain access to exclusive discounts and privileges offered by participating establishments. Partner businesses, meanwhile, become part of a network that encourages people to patronize local enterprises while supporting Rotary’s broader mission. And Rotary gains a sustainable resource-generation platform that can help fund projects designed to improve lives and strengthen communities.

It is a model where everyone has something to gain and something to give.

A CARD WITH A PURPOSE

The name itself captures the idea. “Diskwento” means discount. “Tulong” means help.

Put together, DiskwenTulong transforms an ordinary discount card into what the Rotary Club of Naga Heights describes as a card with a purpose.

Its growing network of partners spans a wide range of everyday needs and services, including medical and diagnostic services, dental care, legal services, mental wellness, grooming and self-care, coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, pastries, multimedia services, entertainment, training services, home and automotive essentials, and wholesale supplies.

The diversity of participating establishments is intentional. The more useful the card becomes in daily life, the greater the opportunity to create a continuing connection among cardholders, local businesses, and Rotary service.

A person may initially obtain the card because of the savings it offers. But each card also represents participation in something larger.

Through the program, ordinary purchases become part of a cycle in which saving, supporting local enterprises, and helping fund community initiatives can happen together.

MAKING SERVICE MORE SUSTAINABLE

For the Rotary Club of Naga Heights, the DiskwenTulong Card also responds to an important question confronting every service organization: How can meaningful projects be sustained over time?

Community needs do not disappear after a single activity. Projects in health, education, livelihood, environmental protection, justice, and community development require resources, partnerships, and continuity.

This is why sustainability forms an important part of BAKAS, the Presidential Thrust of the Rotary Club of Naga Heights for Rotary Year 2026–2027.

BAKAS, which refers to a mark or footprint left behind, challenges the Club to think beyond activities that end when the program concludes or the photographs are taken. The goal is to build initiatives whose impact can continue long after their launch.

DTC applies that philosophy to resource generation.

Instead of treating fundraising as something separate from everyday community life, the program brings it into ordinary transactions and relationships. Businesses provide meaningful privileges. Cardholders receive tangible value. Rotary builds resources for service.

The result is a platform designed not simply to raise funds, but to build a community around service.

LOCAL BUSINESSES AS PARTNERS IN IMPACT

The DiskwenTulong Card also recognizes that lasting community development cannot be achieved by civic organizations alone. Businesses are themselves important members of the communities Rotary serves. They create jobs, provide services, support families, and contribute to local economic activity. By welcoming businesses as DiskwenTulong Partners, RCNH provides another avenue for local enterprises to participate directly in community service. Their contribution is not limited to writing a check or sponsoring a single event. Through the privileges they extend to DTC cardholders, participating businesses become continuing partners in an initiative intended to generate resources for meaningful community endeavors. It transforms the relationship from simple sponsorship into sustained partnership.

SMALL SAVINGS, BIGGER PURPOSE

The strength of the DiskwenTulong Card lies in the simplicity of its proposition.

People already eat in restaurants. They already visit clinics, purchase supplies, stay in hotels, drink coffee, seek professional services, care for themselves, maintain their homes and vehicles, and support local establishments.

DTC asks whether some of those ordinary choices can carry an extraordinary purpose.

A discount may be small.

A single transaction may seem insignificant.

But when businesses, cardholders, Rotarians, and communities participate together, those individual actions can become part of something much larger.

The DiskwenTulong Card was created around that belief: service does not always have to begin with a grand gesture. Sometimes it can begin with the choices people already make every day.

And when those choices allow someone to save while helping Rotary serve, a simple card becomes more than something kept inside a wallet.

It becomes one small way of leaving a lasting mark.
