In line with Rotary’s commitment to serve Basic Education and Literacy, the Rotary Club of Grace Park delighted and inspired young learners through a heart warming Storytelling Session held at Andres Bonifacio Elementary School on October 10, 2025.
The project aimed to spark the imagination, encourage reading, and instilled positive values among students in the local public school community. Rotarians, as storytellers, shared stories that celebrated courage, kindness, and the importance of dreaming big. Club President Sonny Romuar expressed the club’s motivation behind the initiative:
“Storytelling allows us to connect with children on a deeper level. It helps nurture their love for reading while also teaching lessons about empathy, respect, and concern for the community — values that Rotary stand for.”
The storytelling session filled the room with laughter and excitement as children listened attentively to each story. Some even took turns narrating their own short stories, proudly standing before their classmates and discovering the joy of self-expression.
Past President Melvin Chua and Rotarian Ryan Andal also joined President Sonny, enlivening the stories with their engaging performances and warm interaction with the children. The children’s enthusiasm filled the room, making the event both educational and memorable.
To further support the school’s literacy development, the club donated a set of storybooks and reading materials to the school library. Hopefully, this would keep the desire to learn burning continuously and brightly long after the event.
Afterwards, the teachers expressed their appreciation for the club’s effort, noting how the program not only entertained but also motivated students to read more and dream more.
The Club gladly implemented this project as part of Rotary’s ongoing advocacy to uplift education and empower the next generation. For the Rotary Club of Grace Park, storytelling means more than reading aloud. It builds character, inspires hope, and lives out the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.”
