On February 8, 2026, the Rotary Club of Greenfield District (RCGD) spent a meaningful day with the young Agta learners of Sentrong Paaralan ng mga Agta (SPA) in Casiguran, Aurora — a community shaped by isolation, poverty, and the relentless path of seasonal typhoons. In places where access is difficult and resources are scarce, even small gestures carry lasting impact.
A significant highlight of the visit was the turnover of a kolong-kolong (tricycle with sidecar) to serve as the school’s service vehicle. During the rainy season, when mountain trails turn to deep mud and boat rides to the Disigisaw Satellite School become risky, this vehicle will allow teachers to continue reaching their classrooms safely. RCGD also donated sacks of rice to sustain the school’s feeding program, helping ensure that children remain in school for the full day rather than walking long distances home at lunchtime.
The day unfolded with simple games, shared meals, and genuine laughter. Around 92 children received loot bags containing toys, red school shirts, towels, headbands, and vitamins — modest gifts that sparked joy and affirmed that they are seen and valued. Yet beyond the tangible donations, what lingered most was presence — the quiet reminder that the Agta children of Casiguran are not forgotten, and that solidarity can bridge even the most distant mountains.
