The meeting with Cebu City’s education leaders marks a powerful step forward in our shared commitment to uplift communities through education.
Together with Cebu City Local School Board Head Joy Augustus Young and DepEd Cebu City Schools Division Superintendent Nimfa Bongo, Rotary District 3860 led by District Governor Angel “Jong” Fernandez, aligned efforts to bring to life a meaningful District Project: the rehabilitation of three public school buildings in Banawa Elementary School (led by RC Cebu Port Centre), Sawang Calero Elementary School (led by RC Cebu West), and Guba High School (led by RC Mandaue).
Funded through The Rotary Foundation’s Disaster Response Grant, made possible by the leadership of District Rotary Foundation Chair (DRFC) Jensen Racho, this initiative reflects Rotary’s unwavering dedication to service. In addition, the District will fund the construction of a 4 classroom ALS building in Barangay Lorega, further expanding access to education for underserved learners.
With the presence and support of RCCPC President Francis Walter Ong, PAG Antonio Tan Jr., Dir. Robert Barquilla, and fellow Rotarians from RC Cebu West and RC Mandaue, this collaboration stands as a testament to what can be achieved when leaders unite with a common purpose.
This is more than a rehabilitation project, it is a restoration of hope, a rebuilding of dreams, and a reaffirmation of Rotary’s commitment to one of its key areas of focus: Basic Education and Literacy.
Service above self, transforming lives, one school at a time.
