Civic organizations, youth volunteers, and environmental partners came together on Saturday for a tree-growing activity aimed at strengthening community efforts to protect and restore the environment.

Dubbed “Guard the Earth Like You Guard Your Home,” the activity was spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Tagum North through a Rotary District 3860 project and was held at the City Hall Grounds along Ayala Avenue, Tagum City.

The initiative resulted in the planting of 100 trees, symbolizing a collective commitment to environmental protection and the creation of a greener, healthier, and more sustainable community.

Joining the Rotary Club of Tagum North were the Rotary Club of Tagum Golden LACES, Interact Club of Tagum Golden LACES – St. Thomas More, and the Tagum City High School Interact Club. Members and volunteers from these organizations actively participated in the tree-planting activity, demonstrating the important role of young people and civic groups in environmental stewardship.

The activity was conducted in partnership with the Tagum City City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and the Rotaract Club of Tagum North – Palm City Chapter.

The project supports Rotary's Environment Area of Focus, which promotes initiatives that protect and restore natural habitats and ecosystems, safeguard clean water resources, address climate change and environmental degradation, reduce waste, encourage sustainable practices, and build greater awareness and participation in environmental protection.

Organizers highlighted that every tree planted represents a long-term investment in the community and a reminder that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

Beyond the physical planting of trees, the activity also provided an opportunity for Rotary and youth organizations to work together in promoting environmental consciousness among community members.

With the message, “One tree. One community. One shared responsibility for our planet,” the participating organizations reaffirmed their commitment to taking meaningful action for the environment.

The activity embodies Rotary's guiding principle of “Service Above Self” and its continuing call for individuals and communities to connect, take action, and work together toward a better and more sustainable environment.
