“Every detail matters when uplifting tomorrow’s leaders.”
On September 23, 2025, Immediate Past President and Hokkomslow Project Chair Myra Urbiztondo, alongside Rotarian Alden Urbiztondo, conducted an ocular visit at Soong Elementary School. Their purpose was clear: to assess the condition of classroom repairs and determine additional materials needed to enhance the learning environment for the children of Brgy. Soong.
A Hands-On Approach to Educational Empowerment
The visit underscored Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris’s commitment to actively participating in the Hokkomslow Project, which centers on empowering marginalized learners through education. The club’s leaders inspected classrooms carefully—evaluating structural integrity, lighting, and available learning resources—ensuring the facility meets the standards that conducive education demands.
“Seeing firsthand the needs of Brgy. Soong children inspires us to create concrete, impactful solutions,” said IPP Myra Urbiztondo. Their observations will shape prioritized actions, from essential repairs to acquiring educational materials that will directly benefit the students.
Rotary Areas of Focus Highlighted
Education and Literacy: This direct engagement fulfills RCCGM’s commitment to creating nurturing educational spaces that improve literacy and lifelong learning opportunities for underserved communities.
Community Development: Enhancing school facilities fuels sustained community growth by equipping children with better tools for success, fostering hope and empowerment at the grassroots.
Partnerships in Service: The ocular visit cements collaborative ties with Soong Elementary stakeholders, weaving stronger networks that amplify project sustainability and community impact.
Why This Project Resonates Deeply with RCCGM
The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris believes that education is transformative. The ocular visit embodies the club’s ethos of service—moving beyond plans to tangible actions that tangibly uplift Brgy. Soong’s youngest learners. By addressing immediate needs and laying foundations for continued growth, RCCGM envisions a brighter future where every child has access to quality education.
The commitment is clear: “It's not just about brick and mortar—it’s about building dreams one classroom at a time.”
