Project Alaga: Caring For Mothers, Protecting Babies
In celebration of Breastfeeding Awareness Month 2026, the Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union brought the spirit of Service Above Self closer to mothers and newborns through Project ALAGA: Aksyon Para sa Lusog at Alaga ng Kabataan, in support of the ELYU Milk Donation Drive carrying the theme, “Empowering Moms, Protecting Babies.”
The initiative reached 100 mothers at Naguilian District Hospital and Balaoan District Hospital, providing much-needed items for maternal and infant care. The beneficiaries received newborn kits from the Provincial Health Office, breastmilk storage bags, blankets, manual breast pumps, vitamins for mothers and babies, bayabas herbal soap, hygiene kits, and food.
At Naguilian District Hospital, Pres. Rem was joined by PP Brian, PP Sherwin, PE Marlon, Rtn. Hermie, Rtn. Jude, Rtn. John, and IPP Alvin in extending the Club’s support. The succeeding activity at Balaoan District Hospital saw Sec. Lexus, Rtn. Angelo, Rtn. Reinier, and Rtn. Hermie continuing the mission, ensuring that Project ALAGA reached even more mothers and babies beyond the city.
The undertaking was strengthened by a network of partners—the PNA La Union Chapter, Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines, ITRMC Department of Pediatrics, Philippine Pediatric Society–North Luzon Chapter, La Union Medical Society, and the Provincial Health Office of La Union. Together, the organizations demonstrated how collaboration can turn individual acts of generosity into a broader movement of care.
Project ALAGA embodies —one mother, one baby, and one family at a time.
