The Rotary E-Club of Inner Heart, Mandaluyong, led by Charter President / Good President Jaena Jimenez, organized a Peace and Order Service seminar in Barangay Talangan, Nasugbu, Batangas on November 14, 2025. After previously conducting a community assessment, the club identified that the barangay lacked proper equipment necessary to improve the peace and order situation in the area.
During a club meeting, the members therefore agreed to address this need by organizing a seminar to squarely address this matter. Col. Dean B. Ramos, GSC PA (RES.) was invited to be a speaker and share his insights on peace and order. Thus, the project “MAKE PEACE, NOT HATE” was born.
Among the ReC Inner Heart officers and members who attended and helped organize this seminar were CP/GP Jaena Jimenez, Sec./PE Maridel Barcelon, Treas./PN Daisy Dura, Public Image Chair Edwin Ferrer, Membership Chair James Andrew Ravina, as well as baby Rotarians Pjay Dumo, Paul Villaviray, Mhean Sta. Maria, and Jaime Martin Revilla Vargas. Also present were Barangay Chair Norman Lozano, RCC Inner Heart officers led by president Maria Luisa Leizl Lacson, SGLII Founder Paul Villaviray, and various barangay residents.
Col. Ramos delivered an inspiring message drawn from his years of military service and travels across the world. He emphasized that peace and order begins with preparedness, vigilance, and cooperation within the community. He shared practical self-defense tactics and simple yet effective ways to respond to complaints or emergencies. One of his key recommendations was the creation of a barangay group chat, where residents can directly report visitors, emergencies, or crimes to officials. This, he explained, would strengthen community vigilance, improve response times, and foster a culture of accountability and unity. His words reminded everyone that peace is not achieved by one person alone, but through collective effort. By working hand in hand, communities can build resilience, protect one another, and nurture harmony.
He closed his talk with a powerful reminder: “TOGETHER, WE MAKE PEACE, NOT HATE.”
After the conclusion of the program, the club turned over police batons or nightsticks ("batuta") as well as whistles to the barangay officials assembled.
In the words of CP Jaena Jimenez, "may the baton and whistle we turned over symbolize not just leadership, but responsibility—the responsibility to protect peace, to speak against hate, and to serve with a heart".
