Healthy Hands, Happy Hearts

On February 13, 2026, the Rotary Club of Pasig Premier (RCPP) embarked on a heartfelt journey to Isla Maniwaya in Sta. Cruz, Marinduque to carry out a meaningful WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) service project under the Rotary International District 3800 grant program.

Made possible through the inspiring leadership of Good President Lucila “Shiela” Pielago, this initiative was more than a project—it was a mission of care and compassion. The team worked hand in hand to construct a covered, child-friendly handwashing area and install vital plumbing systems, connecting the water tank down to accessible lavatories. These simple yet essential facilities now provide children and families with a safer, healthier environment, nurturing habits that protect their well-being.

Despite challenging weather conditions, the RCPP team pressed forward with unwavering dedication. Carrying heavy loads of materials and paraphernalia, they braved the rough journey across the sea—driven by a shared purpose to serve. Each step, each effort, was fueled by genuine concern for the community they came to uplift.

“Beyond Boundaries” is never easy — we traveled 7 hours by land and 1 hour and 45 minutes by boat to transport all the materials needed for this project. Despite the long journey, our commitment to serve the students and the community of the island kept us going. Our goal was not only to provide much-needed facilities, but also to share what Rotary is all about — service above self

In the end, the project stood not only as a structure, but as a symbol of hope, unity, and Rotary’s enduring commitment to create a lasting impact—one community, one child, one act of service at a time.

Thank you to everyone who supported and contributed to this meaningful mission - Barangay Maniwaya Kapitana Analiza Romasanta and all Kagawads and barangay staff, school principal Richard Ordillano and all teachers and students, all guests including Konsehal ng Bayan Dok Emil Alvarez and Noralyn Ordillano, and, of course, to all member of RCPP who joined us (Irene, Lorena, Jun, Marlon, and GP Lucila Pielago)!
