Growing Mangroves, Growing a Brighter Future
The Rotary Club of Cebu Port Centre (RCCPC), in collaboration with Tsuneishi Technical Services (Phils.) Inc. (TTSP) and the Baliwagan Fishermen Association (BAFA), came together in Sitio Polo, Barangay Baliwagan, Balamban, Cebu, for a meaningful Mangrove Planting Activity.
Led by BAFA Chairman Joseph Mercado and his team, together with the executives of TTSP and RCCPC Rotarians and spouses, we proudly planted 600 mangrove propagules, 600 small beginnings for stronger coastlines, healthier oceans, and a more sustainable future.
A significant milestone followed the planting as RCCPC, TTSP, and BAFA signed a Memorandum of Understanding, witnessed by PDG Anton Florendo and PDG Ted Locson. This partnership strengthens our shared commitment to environmental stewardship, while RCCPC explores the possibility of engaging BAFA as a Rotary Community Corps (RCC).
Under the agreement, BAFA will regularly monitor and care for the planted mangroves, while RCCPC and TTSP will conduct periodic visits. All three partners will also come together annually for mangrove planting activities, ensuring that today’s effort grows into a lasting environmental commitment.
Led by RCCPC President Segismundo “Jun” Exaltacion, Jr. and Spouse Dindin, the activity truly embodied Rotary’s spirit of People of Action, turning concern for the environment into collective action.
Our heartfelt appreciation to TTSP for hosting the fellowship and sumptuous lunch that capped a meaningful morning.
This is more than planting mangroves. It is planting hope, protecting communities, and creating a legacy for generations to come.
