Gift of Awareness: Mammography for Early Detection - Global Grant No. GG2574662

A significant milestone was celebrated today, August 14, 2026, as the Gift of Awareness: Mammography for Early Detection Global Grant Project officially kicked off at the La Filipina Primary Health Care Facility following the facility’s receipt of its License to Operate (LTO) from DOH-FBAD.

With this important authorization in place, the facility is now ready to provide mammography screening services every Friday, making breast cancer screening more accessible to women in the community.

As part of the official kickoff, the Rotary Club of Tagum North, Host Club, together with the Rotary Club of Tagum and Rotary Club of Tagum Golden LACES, Co-Host Clubs, conducted a mammography screening activity at the La Filipina Primary Health Care Facility.

The project is made possible through the support of the Rotary Club of Pohang Shin, District 3630, Republic of Korea, as the International Partner, in collaboration with the Tagum City Health Office.

Prior to the launch of the service, the radiologic technologist underwent retraining and skills updating to help ensure that mammography screening is performed safely, accurately, and in accordance with current standards and practices. Starting Today , Every Friday Beginning August 14, 2026, women who wish to avail themselves of mammography screening services may visit the La Filipina Primary Health Care Facility every Friday.

To register, women may:

• Visit their respective Barangay Health Center for pre-screening and referral; or

• Visit the La Filipina Primary Health Care Facility for appointment scheduling and further instructions.

• The Gift of Awareness: Mammography for Early Detection Global Grant Project is more than a health service—it is a gift of hope, awareness, access, and action.

By bringing mammography screening closer to women in our community, we hope to encourage more women to take a proactive step toward their breast health. Early detection can lead to earlier treatment and better outcomes for women diagnosed with breast cancer.
