Clean Habits, Safer Schools: Ligtas Eskwela in Action
In August 2025, the Rotary Club of Sampaguita Grace Park answered urgent calls from Macario B. Asistio Sr. High School Main (MBASHS) and Tandang Sora Integrated School (TSIS) in Caloocan after dengue cases were reported in both schools.
Guided by Rotary’s Areas of Focus of Disease Prevention and Treatment and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), the club launched Ligtas Eskwela: Combating Dengue Through Clean Habits, a two-school initiative that turned concern into collective action.
Students and teachers took part in engaging sessions on dengue prevention, proper hygiene, and clean classroom practices, supported by pledge walls, safety reminders, and active school participation. To immediately address the threat, Rotarians, together with technical partner Evolvpest Solution Inc., conducted fogging, vector control operations, and dengue prevention seminars in key school zones to reduce mosquito breeding sites and prevent further cases.
More than 3,900 students and teachers benefited from the project.
More than a response to an outbreak, Ligtas Eskwela built a culture where every leader became a defender of health – proving that safer schools begin with clean habits, strong partnerships, and communities united in action.
