March 14 marked a significant milestone in the journey of the Rotary Club of Luntiang Maynila Prime as we proudly held the short turn-over ceremony for our District Grant Project, "Enhancing Educational Spaces at Parklane Elementary School," led by our committed Club President, Elberto Regis.
The ceremony took place at Parklane Elementary School in Barangay San Francisco, General Trias, Cavite—a school that serves as a beacon of hope and learning for the local community. Our project focused on two vital components: the roofing of the school stage and the installation of a 4-Way-Test Marker. These enhancements not only aim to improve the physical learning environment but also to instill a lasting culture of ethical values among students.
As we gathered at the school, the spirit of collaboration and community filled the air. The stage, which once faced the elements in its nakedness, now boasts a sturdy roof, transforming it into a safe space for educational activities, performances, and community gatherings. This improvement will enable the students to engage fully, unhindered by adverse weather, ensuring that their creativity and talents can shine brightly.
In addition to the roofing work, we installed a prominent 4-Way-Test Marker, which serves as a daily reminder of Rotary's core values: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? This marker stands as a testament to our commitment not only to educational enhancement but also to the moral development of our youth.
Our successful collaboration with the Rotary Community Corps (RCC) PH CONNECT ensured that the project's implementation was thorough and impactful. A comprehensive community assessment revealed the pressing needs of the school, and discussions with stakeholders—including administrators, teachers, parents, and students—helped guide our initiatives. We learned that the school stage was more than just a platform for performances; it was a vital space for community building and connection.
The project objectives were clear: to provide a weather-resistant facility for safe student engagement and to inspire a culture of ethical behavior through the 4-Way-Test Marker. As President Elberto Regis emphasized during the ceremony, this project is a testament to Rotary’s dedication to service and the upliftment of communities. The sense of unity and shared purpose was palpable, and the presence of school officials and community members highlighted the project's importance to all involved.
As we look ahead, we are proud to anticipate the positive outcomes of our efforts: an improved school stage that accommodates a broader range of activities, a constant reminder of ethical conduct for students and staff, and a strengthened partnership between the school and the community.
Thank you to everyone who contributed, from our hardworking Rotary members to the local stakeholders who engaged in the process. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for the students of Parklane Elementary School, one that is filled with opportunities, learning, and a strong ethical foundation.
Special thanks to the School Principal, Mrs Virgie T. Taccad, Teacher Rowena L. Requiez and sir Rusel Sosmeña Anacay. Thank you for the Certificate of Appreciation.
