Career Awareness Seminar: “We Help Shape Your Future”

On February 28, 2026, Maximo Estrella Senior High School (MESHS) held a Career Awareness Seminar titled “We Help Shape Your Future” at the AVR of the Senior High School building. The event provided graduating students with valuable insights into various career paths through the sharing of experiences and professional guidance from distinguished guest speakers.


The seminar was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Rotary Club of Makati North, Rotary Club of Alabang, Rotary Club of Forbes Park, Rotary Club of Makati Central, Rotary Club of Makati Metro, and Rotary Club of Makati Salcedo.



Five speakers discussed what students can expect in college and in different professional fields such as law, education, and social development. Ms. Akilah Alonzo, President of the Rotaract Club of Brgy. Sta. Cruz shared her experiences as a student at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She spoke about navigating college life, building meaningful friendships, and choosing a course aligned with one’s purpose and intentions.


Ms. Anna Marie Amul, a Registered Social Worker, Certified Paralegal, and Psychosocial First Aid Practitioner with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, delivered an eye-opening talk titled “The World of a Development Social Worker.” She highlighted the role of social workers and paralegals in promoting social justice and serving vulnerable communities.


Atty. Rico De Guzman, the 41st President of the Rotary Club of Makati Central and a Certified Public Accountant, shared insights on the skills, challenges, and rewards involved in pursuing a career in corporate law.


Mr. Carlo Lagmay, Teacher III and the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) Subject Group Coordinator of MESHS, emphasized that teaching is more than a profession—it is a calling dedicated to nurturing and shaping the next generation of learners.


To conclude the seminar, Mr. Anton Jacomina, Past President of the Rotary Club of Forbes Park and Vice President for Human Resources of Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc., delivered a talk on “Career Overview.” He shared valuable insights on the evolving job market and the future of work. Drawing from his personal experiences, he encouraged students to always give their best effort and never give up.


He emphasized the importance of resilience, maintaining a positive mindset, and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. He also reminded students of the importance of continuous learning and treating others with kindness and respect. 

The seminar proved to be an inspiring and insightful event, equipping students with knowledge and motivation as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives. With guidance from professionals across various fields, the students gained a clearer understanding of the opportunities ahead and the skills they need to succeed in their chosen careers.
