Bridging Hearts, Building Hope: Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Cabugan Elementary School

For many children, the beginning of a school year comes with the excitement of new lessons, new friends, and new dreams. But for some learners, having the basic things they need for school can already be a challenge.

At Cabugan Elementary School, that challenge was met with compassion and community spirit as the Rotary Club of Tagum North Palm City, in partnership with the 60th Infantry Battalion (60IB), brought meaningful assistance to pupils in support of Brigada Eskwela 2026.

More than a school-preparation activity, the outreach became a celebration of bayanihan and volunteerism, bringing together individuals and organizations united by one purpose: to help children begin the school year with confidence, dignity, and hope.

The pupils received school bags, school supplies, and water containers, practical necessities that can make their daily school experience more comfortable and productive. For some learners, a new school bag and complete school supplies may be a small gift, but they can also represent something much bigger: the assurance that their community cares about their education and future.

The smiles of the children grew even wider as volunteers provided free haircuts during the activity. One by one, the pupils took their turns, transforming the simple grooming service into a joyful experience. Looking neat and refreshed, the children returned to their classmates with renewed confidence.

The outreach also included the distribution of free porridge, giving the learners a warm and nourishing meal. Beyond satisfying hunger, the shared meal created an opportunity for volunteers to interact with the children and strengthen the sense of community that Brigada Eskwela seeks to promote.

Leading the initiative were Rotary Club President Robyn Nino D. Pereyras and Service Projects Chair Noven Deligero, together with his spouse, Jessa Deligero.

Their leadership was complemented by the presence of PAG Arnold M. Nicolas, PAG Mae T. Dalisay, PP Renie Siscon and spouse Gina, PP Jess Osorio and spouse Rose, PN Lorena Lintuan, and Rtn. Irene M. Park with PAG Jewan, as well as the dedicated Rotaractors of the Rotary Club of Tagum North Palm City.

The participation of the 60IB highlighted another important dimension of the activity: the power of partnership.

When civic organizations, volunteers, schools, and other community stakeholders work together, assistance becomes more than an individual act of generosity. It becomes a collective effort capable of reaching more learners and creating a deeper impact.

Brigada Eskwela is rooted in the Filipino spirit of bayanihan, people setting aside differences and working hand in hand for a common good. At Cabugan Elementary School, this spirit came alive through every school bag handed to a pupil, every haircut provided, every meal served, and every volunteer who willingly gave time and effort.

For the Rotary Club of Tagum North Palm City, the activity was another expression of its commitment to the Rotary ideal of “Service Above Self.”

The organization recognizes that meaningful service does not always require grand gestures. Sometimes, it begins with something as simple as giving a child the supplies needed for school, serving a warm meal, or taking the time to make a young learner feel valued.

Ultimately, the outreach was not only about preparing children for the opening of classes. It was about preparing them emotionally as well, to face the school year knowing that their community believes in their potential.

As the pupils return to their classrooms, they carry with them their new school supplies and the memories of a day filled with kindness. But perhaps the most important thing they carry is the message behind the activity:

They are not alone in their journey toward a better future.

The Brigada Eskwela 2026 initiative at Cabugan Elementary School is a powerful reminder that when communities come together, even the simplest acts of service can become meaningful steps toward changing lives.

And for every child who received a school bag, enjoyed a warm meal, sat for a haircut, or simply shared a smile with a volunteer, the message was clear:

Service creates hope. Partnership creates possibilities. And together, we can build a brighter future, one learner at a time.
