The on-going repair of the Barangay Calambua Day Care Center in San Remigio, Cebu is now 50% complete, with full completion expected within the next two weeks. What once stood damaged after the 6.9 magnitude earthquake is steadily rising again, stronger, safer, and ready to serve the children of the community.
This commitment was made during the January 28, 2026 visit of Rotary Club of Cebu Port Centre (RCCPC), led by Antonio Tan Jr. and Director Robert Barquilla, to Barangay Captain Crinita Ornopia and the Calambua Barangay Council. It was more than a courtesy call, it was a promise to help rebuild a vital space for early childhood education.
This afternoon, Director Robert Barquilla returned for an inspection following another courtesy visit with Barangay Captain Ornopia and the Council. Seeing the progress firsthand was a powerful reminder that when commitments are made with sincerity and followed through with action, communities are strengthened and hope is restored.
In partnership with NUTSRV, RCCPC continues to live out Rotary’s spirit of Service Above Self, transforming concern into concrete action. The nearly completed structure stands not just as a repaired building, but as a symbol of resilience, collaboration, and shared responsibility.
In two weeks’ time, the children of Barangay Calambua will once again have a safe and nurturing place to learn and grow.
A promise fulfilled. Hope rebuilt.
