Warm Meals, Open Hearts, and POTABLE Water: RC San Fernando La Union Extends Relief to Flood-Affected Families

In response to the flooding brought about by Typhoon Maymay, the Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union conducted a Hot Meals Distribution on August 6, 2026 for evacuees in Brgy. Poro and Catbangen Central School. Around 900 displaced individuals were temporarily sheltered in the evacuation centers, and volunteers worked together to provide nourishing meals during a time of uncertainty.

The relief effort was carried out through the collective action of Rotarians, partners, and community volunteers who prepared and distributed food despite the persistent rains. For many evacuees, the warm meals offered not only nourishment but also comfort and reassurance that their community stood beside them.

In addition to the feeding activity, the club announced that its Water for Life stations remain open to all residents who need potable water. These stations, established through the club’s long-term water access initiatives, served as an important resource for families affected by flooding and water contamination.

The combined efforts in food and water assistance underscored Rotary’s commitment to both immediate relief and sustained community support, proving that service continues even when the weather is at its harshest.
