In the wake of Typhoon Kristine, something truly heartwarming happened in Cuenca, Batangas.
As the Magical Irresistible President of the Rotary Club of Jose Abad Santos Manila under District 3810, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the incredible strength and compassion of our community as we came together to support those in need.
This initiative is a shining example of Rotary’s commitment to Disaster Response and Recovery. But beyond providing immediate relief, it also highlights our dedication to Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention.
By coming together in solidarity, we’re not just helping people recover; we’re building a foundation of trust and unity that strengthens our community against future challenges.
In partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Lipa City, Rotary Club of Lipa, and GEROS Group of Companies, we set out to deliver more than just supplies to the residents of Cuenca. We wanted to show them that they weren’t alone, that we were all in this together.
On October 30, 2024, the community center in Cuenca was buzzing with activity and warmth. Volunteers, with smiles and open hearts, served hot macaroni soup and handed out fresh bread and essential groceries to families affected by the typhoon. Every meal and grocery pack was a heartfelt gesture of support, a reminder that even in tough times, we’re stronger together.
The spirit and resilience of the Batangas community shone brightly that day. Despite the challenges, the generosity and unity on display turned despair into hope. The courage and determination of the residents were truly inspiring, renewing our commitment to stand by them as they rebuild their lives.
This initiative is a call to all of us to rise above adversity and work towards a future filled with hope. As we rebuild and restore, let’s inspire others to join us on this journey. Together, we rise—stronger, more united, and more determined to create a better tomorrow. This event shows that when we come together in love and solidarity, there’s no challenge we can’t overcome.
