In a heartfelt display of international friendship and community service, the Rotary Club of San Fernando (La Union) and its sister club, the Rotary Club of Wonju Jeil of District 3730, jointly carried out a relief mission for families affected by Typhoon Uwan in Barangay Calabugao, San Fernando City.
The delegation from RC Wonju Jeil—composed of Secretary Sang-Mok Jung, Treasurer Jae-Gyu Kim, and members Jeong-Min Choi and Gyu-Wan Kim—joined RCSFLU in extending assistance to forty-three evacuees temporarily seeking refuge after the storm. In partnership with the Rotary Community Corps (RCC) of Calabugao, both clubs worked hand in hand to distribute essential supplies, including rice, basic hygiene products, food items, and other necessities that offered immediate relief and comfort.
The joint mission was more than a distribution of goods—it was a reaffirmation of the enduring bond between the two clubs. Coming just a day after the celebration of RCSFLU’s 66th Charter Anniversary, the service project highlighted a 12-year friendship marked by sincerity, cooperation, and a shared commitment to Service Above Self. The presence of the Korean delegation further strengthened this connection, demonstrating how cross-border partnerships can bring hope to communities recovering from disaster.
Together, RCSFLU and RC Wonju Jeil showed that compassion knows no boundaries, proving once again that Rotary’s power lies in unity, goodwill, and action.
