Two Projects, One Mission

The Rotary Club of Marikina Royale recently spearheaded a collaborative and meaningful project aimed at benefiting the special education (SPED) students of San Roque National High School.  This undertaking involved a simultaneous service effort with two distinct yet interconnected components that catered to the needs of both the students and their families.

The first service project titled ALERT (Accessible Learning on Emergency Readiness Training) through SAFE (Specialized Awareness for Emergencies) Steps focused on disaster preparedness and safety awareness for the SPED students.

The Bureau of Fire Protection Marikina was instrumental in conducting fire drills and providing vital training on emergency response procedures.  Through interactive sessions and practical simulations, the students were equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to stay safe in the event of a disaster.  This proactive approach to education not only instilled the sense of preparedness but also fostered a culture of safety within the school community.

In tandem with the disaster preparedness program, the second service project named Money Talks, Future Shine, centered on financial management for the parents of the SPED students.  Recognizing the importance of financial literacy and empowerment, the Rotary Club of Marikina Royale arranged for a financial coach to lead the workshop and provide valuable insights on budgeting, saving, and investment.

By offering practical guidance on managing finances effectively, the aim was to alleviate financial stress and enhance the financial well-being of the families, thereby creating a ripple effect of stability and security within the household.

Through the concerted efforts of the Rotary Club of Marikina Royale, the SPED students of San Roque National High School received valuable education and support in crucial aspects of their lives.  By addressing both safety and financial literacy, this project not only sought to enrich the lives of the students but also to empower their families to build a stronger and more resilient future.  The success of these simultaneous service projects underscore the transformative impact that community collaboration and compassionate outreach can have on individuals in need.
