Science Meets Service: Dr. Teresita Tabaog Inspires RC San Fernando La Union Toward Sustainable Innovation

The Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union held its 12th Regular Meeting with a distinguished guest, Dr. Teresita Atal Tabaog, Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region I. Dr. Tabaog delivered an insightful talk on the crucial role of science, technology, and innovation in advancing sustainable and inclusive growth across the region.
Speaking before club members, Dr. Tabaog highlighted DOST’s ongoing programs that empower communities through local research, appropriate technologies, and capacity building initiatives. She encouraged Rotarians to collaborate with the agency in promoting science-driven solutions to local challenges—ranging from disaster risk reduction to livelihood improvement and environmental protection.
RCSFLU President Alvin expressed gratitude for Dr. Tabaog’s inspiring message and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to aligning its projects with sustainable, technology-based approaches. The meeting concluded with renewed energy and ideas for future partnerships that bridge science and service.
Also, RCSFLU and DOST RO1 conducted a Memorandum of Understanding with regards to the conduct of the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) as an annual event, which is aimed at providing an opportunity to focus regional and national attention on the contribution of science and technology to national development.
