Rotary Club of Metro Olongapo’s Gift of Identity: Restoring Dignity and Opportunity in Iram High School

On September 13, 2025, the Rotary Club of Metro Olongapo, led by President Derrick Quijano Manuel, together with its sister club the Rotary Club of Suwon Susung headed by President Choi Ingyu, successfully conducted a meaningful service project titled “Rotary’s Gift of Identity” at Iram Elementary School in coordination with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Zambales and the Department of Education. The initiative was held in Iram, New Cabalan, Olongapo City, Zambales, and primarily served members of the Aeta Indigenous Community.

More than a hundred beneficiaries were assisted in securing authenticated birth certificates and accessing National ID registration services, helping address long-standing barriers to legal identity and documentation. In addition to these services, the Rotary Club of Metro Olongapo conducted a gift-giving activity and served warm arroz caldo to the community, fostering fellowship and shared compassion among volunteers and beneficiaries.

The project strengthened access to essential government services while restoring dignity and opportunity for the community. By enabling identity recognition, it opens pathways for improved access to education, healthcare, and social services—powerfully reflecting Rotary’s commitment to “Service Above Self” and inclusive community empowerment.
