Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo Organizes RCC AuSome Parents to Champion Autism Support and Community Inclusion

The Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo (D3850) has taken a meaningful, impactful step forward with the successful orientation and organization of the Rotary Community Corps (RCC) of AuSome Parents, on June 6, 2026, at CityMall Kalibo, Kalibo, Aklan.

This newly formed group brings together parents, guardians, and advocates dedicated to supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Their induction will be scheduled at the start of the new Rotary Year. 

The energy of the orientation was highly forward-looking. Club Trainor and Training Facilitator PP Megs Lunn, mapped out initial plans to engage directly with children on the spectrum, like planning community events tailored to the unique sensory needs of children with ASD, creating structured playgroups and activities designed to foster social skills and peer interaction in a judgment-free zone, and vocational service & interaction by the/among the parents, and local volunteers to better understand behavioral therapies and inclusive care, among the many opportunities to serve.

This RCC group ensures that the solutions implemented are directly designed by the people who understand the needs best.

By blending the deep, lived experiences of the "AuSome Parents" with the network and resource-mobilization strength of the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo, this initiative promises to create a lasting, compassionate ripple effect for families navigating autism in the region.

Following the event, RC Metro Kalibo officially accepted and turned over a donation of fabric "Retaso" from the Rotary Club of Metro Roxas (D3850) Pres. Nema Diestro, on June 13, 2026. This will kickstart our RCC Proposed Community RUG Project, turning scraps into beautiful, functional creations by our talented parents!
