Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris Welcomes Rotary Baby and Celebrates Service to the Community

As the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris ushers in the new Rotary year, we are excited to continue a cherished tradition that holds deep meaning for our club and the community we serve. Every year on July 1st, the club celebrates the start of the new Rotary year by sponsoring a newborn baby at Saint Anthony Mother & Child Hospital, marking a symbol of hope and commitment to service.

This year’s event was especially heartwarming as we welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Evander, into the world.

With this act, we not only celebrate the beginning of the Rotary year, but we also reaffirm our ongoing commitment to supporting the community, particularly its most vulnerable members.

As part of the tradition, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris also took the opportunity to reconnect with last year's Rotary baby, Scarlett, who turned one this year. Scarlett, our 2023 Rotary baby, was showered with gifts to mark her first milestone. The heartfelt celebration was a perfect blend of joy and service, as members of our club came together to give back to the community in a way that reflects the core values of Rotary: service above self.

This year’s event was made even more special with the collaborative effort of fellow Area 1A Rotary clubs. We were joined by the Rotary Clubs of Cebu East, Cebu South, and Talisay, who all worked together to make the day a success. Their support further emphasized the spirit of fellowship and teamwork that is fundamental to Rotary’s mission. In addition, MM Tan Bookkeeping Services Corporation generously contributed to the event, providing vital support and helping to ensure that the celebration was a success.

The occasion was more than just an event; it was a powerful reminder of the core values that define Rotary.

It exemplified how service can unite people from all walks of life to make a positive difference. By coming together in fellowship, our clubs worked hand-in-hand to bring joy to the lives of these families, while also celebrating the incredible impact that our collective efforts can have on the community.

In addition to providing gifts and support for the babies, the event allowed members of the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris to reconnect with the very essence of why we serve: to uplift and empower others. Our club has always been passionate about making a lasting, meaningful impact on our community, and this annual tradition is a wonderful way to showcase the work we do throughout the year.

This tradition is just one example of the many ways in which the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris seeks to engage with the local community and uphold the values that make Rotary such a force for good. The act of sponsoring a newborn not only represents our commitment to those who need it most but also reinforces our belief in the importance of compassion, care, and community spirit.

As we step into the new Rotary year, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris is excited to continue its efforts in serving the community, building lasting partnerships, and promoting the Rotary ideals of service, fellowship, and integrity. Together, with the help of our fellow Rotary clubs and generous supporters, we look forward to another year of meaningful impact and positive change.

Here’s to a new Rotary year filled with hope, service, and the spirit of fellowship!
