As communities across Rizal continue to face the growing impact of flooding and climate-related emergencies, the Rotary Club of Rizal Mideast has taken a decisive step to help safeguard lives.
Through a District Grant from Rotary International District 3800, the Club facilitated the acquisition and turnover of a rescue boat to the Cainta Local Government Unit—a critical addition to the municipality’s disaster response capabilities.
Cainta, one of the most flood-prone areas in Rizal, frequently experiences rising waters during heavy rains and typhoons. In these moments, rapid response can mean the difference between safety and tragedy. The newly donated rescue boat enhances the local government’s ability to reach stranded residents, conduct timely evacuations, and deliver emergency assistance when it matters most.
The turnover ceremony was formally received by Johnielle Keith Pasion Nieto, Mayor of Cainta, who acknowledged the importance of strong partnerships in building resilient communities. The collaboration between Rotary and the local government underscores a shared commitment to preparedness, responsiveness, and public safety.

Leading the initiative was Club President Richeen Padua, together with Assistant Governors Danny Guevarra and Cherie Sandoval. The project was spearheaded by Service Project Director Hansel Hernandez, with implementation support from Rodrigo Macatlang.
Also present during the turnover were Past President Felicito A. Gesite, Director Caren Marquez-Tiangco, and Director Eric Arevalo of the Cainta Disaster Response team.
More than a single act of service, the rescue boat symbolizes Rotary’s enduring commitment to communities in need. It reflects the organization’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self” and its proactive approach to addressing real-world challenges through sustainable solutions.
As extreme weather events become increasingly frequent, initiatives like this highlight the vital role of collaboration, leadership, and compassion. For the Rotary Club of Rizal Mideast, the mission remains clear: to stand with communities in times of crisis and to ensure that, even in the face of rising waters, hope stays afloat—and no one is left behind.
