RI President Gordon McInally made a personal visit to Manila last month and received a Peace Laureate award from the Sino-Phil Asia International Peace Awards Foundation, Inc., an organization that confers recognition on leaders who have made significant strides toward “enhancing quality of life for all humanity.” The Rotary Club of Diliman Central of RI District 3780 is a co-founder of the organization, with the Order of the Knights of Rizal World Chapter.
McInally’s itinerary included the laying of a wreath at the Rizal monument at the Luneta Park in Manila. McInally is the first sitting RI President who has been given the opportunity to perform this ritual that is reserved for heads of state and highly placed dignitaries.
He called on Speaker Martin Romualdez at the House of Representatives in Batasang Pambansa, Quezon City. His visit coincided with the passing of House Resolution No. 1607 supporting the hosting by the Philippines of the Rotary International convention in 2028.
