RC Metro Kalibo provides free dental services to police forces

In the Philippines, Presidential Proclamation No. 764 designates July as Police Community Relations (PCR) Month, aiming to foster closer police-community interaction to address peace and order issues. This month presents a perfect opportunity to enhance collaboration between the police and the community.

On July 12, 2024, in honor of the 29th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month, the Aklan Police Provincial Office, under the guidance of Provincial Director PCOL Victorino E. Romanillos Jr., partnered with the Philippine Dental Association Aklan Chapter, led by its president Dr. Chastie Amira Cabral, the Police Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (PAGTPD), Aklan Baghay, Inc., and the Regional Medical and Dental Unit 6.

The Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo (D3850), under the leadership of current president Jess Fernandez, joined forces to provide free dental services to deserving police forces.

This joint endeavor positively impacted more than 60 individuals by offering the following services: (1) Oral Examination: 63; (2) Oral Prophylaxes (Cleaning): 52; (3) Extraction: 6; (4) Restoration (Pasta): 24.

During the dental mission, the club entered into a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with the Aklan Police Provincial Advisory Group and Aklan Baghay, Inc. as a strategic partner in Peace Building and Conflict Prevention.

Additionally, a renewal of the MOU with the long-time partner in service, the Philippine Dental Association Aklan Chapter, was signed. The PDA Aklan has been a key partner in Disease Prevention and Treatment through annual dental missions, with the Rotary Club contributing equipment and medications.

The club thanks its service partners for this incredibly successful collaboration. The members are always happy to be of service. They are also grateful for the additional support from R&R Newtech Dental Corporation (Manila), as well as media partners, Kalibo Cable TV Network, and Love Radio.

The event was co-organized in support of Peace Building and Conflict Prevention, one of the Areas of Focus outlined by Rotary International. It was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Aklan Police Provincial Office at Camp Pastor Martelino in Brgy. New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan.
