RC Makati Dasmariñas marked a memorable milestone with the induction of 16 new officers for the Interact Club of Makati Science High School. This event represents an exciting step forward for these young leaders as they commit to a path of service, integrity, and personal growth—values, as Rotarians, hold close to their hearts.
Guided by Inspiring Leadership RCMD Club President, Atty. Joann Cañete, presided over the ceremony, warmly welcoming guests and offering heartfelt words of encouragement to the new officers. She emphasized the importance of teamwork, resilience, and service, showing how these qualities build both personal character and stronger communities. The pride on each young face as they took their oaths was truly moving; its a reminder of why Rotarians invest in mentoring these future leaders.
The Pinning Ceremony
A highlight of the event was the Pinning Ceremony, where the guests celebrated the official induction of the new officers. Pictures were taken with several esteemed RCMD members, including PP Jun Turla, PP Winston Yang, CM Lulu Jorge, and Rotarian Diane Zoleta. Despite their busy schedules, they attended the ceremony, showing their unwavering support for the youth leaders and the club’s commitment to fostering the next generation.
A Strong Community of Support
One of the most touching aspects of today’s event was the support from the 13 members of the Rotaract Club of Arellano University (AU) who joined as "big sisters and brothers" to the new Interact Officers. Their presence symbolizes the support network that's being built for the respective youth—providing mentorship, encouragement, and a vision of what’s possible when working together.
It was clear how much the Rotaractors’ presence meant to the Interactors, bridging the gap between Rotary's youth clubs and fostering a sense of belonging that will only strengthen as they continue their journey.
A Special Guest and Heartfelt Appreciation
District Rotaract Representative and Past President Louize Laine Antonio was welcomed as guest of honor and Charging Officer. Her inspiring words and contagious energy left an impact on everyone in attendance. With her wealth of experience in Rotary and community service, DRR PP Louize encouraged Interactors to lead with purpose and unity. To express gratitude, she was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation, recognizing her invaluable role in guiding the youth today.
Sharing Knowledge Through a Book Donation
Another highlight of the day was the turn-over of 200 books to the Interact Club out of 310 books donated by Rotarian CM Kimmy Suarez. These books, thoughtfully sorted by Rotaractors from AU, are ready to make a difference in the lives of students beyond Makati
Science High School. With the school’s library already well-stocked, both the Interact Club and Rotaract AU will work with their school clubs to share these books with communities in need, ensuring they reach students who will benefit the most from this valuable resource.
Perspective of the Author
Empowering Youth to Lead and Serve
The induction signifies so much more than titles; it is a commitment to nurturing young people into future leaders of change. As their Youth Service Chair, I am filled with pride and gratitude to witness this next generation stepping up. Through our mentorship, they’re
learning essential skills in teamwork, project management, and social responsibility that will shape their futures.
This initiative isn’t just about today; it’s about fostering a legacy of service, where these young leaders understand that they have the power to make a lasting impact.
Though I couldn’t be there in person from Sweden, my heart was with everyone today. Seeing our community come together to support these young leaders and witnessing their enthusiasm reminds me how connected we all are through Rotary’s mission. This unity is a testament to our club’s dedication to "Service Above Self" and to empowering our youth.
Looking Forward
The event reinforced Rotary’s mission and highlighted the profound impact of supporting young leaders. With these officers at the helm, the Interact Club of Makati Science High School is well on its way to becoming a beacon of positive change, embodying the Rotary spirit for years to come.
