Rotary’s power to connect communities across borders was clearly on display during the recent two-day international mission of the Rotary Club of Hiyas ng Bacoor (District 3810, Philippines) to Jeonju, South Korea. This visit deepened ties with sister clubs and showcased how shared service, cultural exchange, and strategic planning combine to create lasting impact.
The visit focused on strengthening partnerships, building sustainable futures, and celebrating Rotary fellowship through meaningful action.
On June 26, a delegation of 14 members—including nine Past Presidents and current leaders—arrived to a warm welcome by RC Jeonju Keelin (District 3670). The day began with a fellowship lunch hosted by RC Jeonju Mujigae, where traditional Korean cuisine and the ceremonial sharing of Ssanghwatang, a revitalizing herbal tea, symbolized renewed energy and shared purpose.
That evening, the delegation attended the RC Jeonju Keelin Induction Ceremony as honored guests. The President of RC Hiyas ng Bacoor delivered a heartfelt congratulatory message, underscoring the strong friendship between the two clubs and their shared dedication to service and international cooperation. Following the ceremony, members enjoyed an evening of fellowship with RC Mujigae and RC Pohang Il-Weol, strengthening bonds that cross national boundaries.
The following day, June 27, focused on the future. At the Jeonju Keelin Rotary Center, RC Hiyas ng Bacoor leadership held a strategic planning session grounded in a SWOT analysis framework. The discussion centered on succession planning and mentoring younger members—key steps to ensure the club’s mission continues across generations.
A major achievement from this session was the finalization of the club’s 11th Global Grant Project: the development of a solar-powered water station. This initiative aligns with Rotary’s goals of promoting clean water, environmental sustainability, and community health. The project also highlights the strong international collaboration between the Philippine and Korean clubs.
Later that afternoon, beneath the peaceful canopy of Moak Mountain, a pomegranate tree was planted to symbolize the enduring friendship between RC Hiyas ng Bacoor and RC Jeonju Keelin. Known for its resilience and fruitful harvest, the tree embodies the growth, unity, and spirit of Rotary fellowship nurtured through this partnership. This living symbol also reflects Rotary’s commitment to environmental stewardship and a sustainable future.
This mission to South Korea was more than a visit; it was a vivid reminder of Rotary’s ability to unite people from diverse cultures in common purpose. Whether through planning, cultural sharing, or symbolic gestures, RC Hiyas ng Bacoor’s journey reinforced Rotary’s role as a global connector and agent of positive change.
