"Laughter and learning go hand in hand to build stronger communities." — President Roxene Rosario
On the vibrant evening of October 10, the function room at DOH 7 beside CAP was filled with a warm, celebratory spirit as Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris hosted its much-anticipated annual Mooncake Festival Celebration. The event was a delightful blend of rich cultural tradition, heartfelt fellowship, and vital educational outreach, reminding everyone that community service can be infused with joy and connection.
A Night to Remember: Dice Game and Birthday Cheers
The highlight of the night was the lively dice game, which quickly became a catalyst for laughter, playful competition, and bonding. Members and guests eagerly joined in, caught up in the excitement of the rolling dice and the thrilling anticipation of each turn. This simple yet profoundly joyful activity strengthened the sense of unity among attendees, transcending age and background, and cultivating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
Adding to the evening’s meaningfulness was the Q3 birthday celebration, honoring all celebrants from July to September. This thoughtful gesture wrapped the gathering in a personal warmth that made attendees feel cherished and connected.
“These moments of shared joy remind us that Rotary is not just about service but about nurturing friendships and building a community where everyone belongs,” remarked one club leader.
Education at the Heart of Festivity
While fun was abundant, the night also offered a platform for vital community education. Dr. Parolita "Letlet" Mission of the National Nutrition Council delivered an insightful talk on "Nutrition Concerns on Cebu Earthquake," highlighting the critical role nutrition plays in disaster recovery and community resilience. Her presentation underscored how proper nutrition is foundational to physical strength and long-term health, especially for families rebuilding their lives after calamities.
The event was further graced by distinguished guests from the Philippine Dental Association—Dr. Donna Yap and Dr. Gabriel Albina—alongside respected community figures Mr. Bertoldo Pricillas, Jr. and Ms. Evetthe Macarangcat, whose presence reflected the collaborative spirit that Rotary Club Gloria Maris champions.
Why This Event Resonates Deeply
The Mooncake Festival celebration is a shining example of Rotary Club Gloria Maris’s unique approach to blending tradition, fellowship, and service.
“The dice game and birthday celebrations are not mere pastimes—they are the threads weaving a tapestry of fellowship that deepens our collective commitment to serve,” reflected Dr. Dyhongpo, a dedicated club member.
This event beautifully illustrated how moments of joy and connection amplify the impact of Rotary’s mission, fostering a spirit of unity that strengthens community resilience.
Through laughter, learning, and heartfelt celebration, Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris once again demonstrated that service thrives where joy and solidarity flourish. The evening left everyone enriched—not only with knowledge but with renewed bonds and a shared resolve to build healthier, stronger communities.
