As part of its efforts toward peacebuilding and conflict prevention, the Rotary Club of Marikina Valley managed to organize an enlightening and empowering session about Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), with the cooperation of the Marikina City Police.
Held on October 12, 2025, during the Club's flagship "One Day, Seven Ways to Serve" project in Pintong Bocawe, San Mateo, Rizal, the session gathered women from the community, primarily wives of farmers and local residents, providing them with vital knowledge on their rights and protection.
The resource person for the session was Police Chief Master Sergeant Vanesa David of the Marikina City Police, whose topic focused on the various kinds of abuse mentioned in the VAWC Law (R.A. No. 9262). Rights and legal provisions for protection were among the topics covered in her talk.
The club aims to continue making a positive impact within communities through initiatives such as these, which provide empowerment and enlightenment for women and families.
