Enhancing Inclusive Education: A Collaborative SPED Training for Teachers and Parents

The Rotary Club of Grace Park successfully conducted a training program for Special Education (SPED) teachers and parents, funded through a District Grant. This initiative underscores the club’s commitment to promoting inclusive education and strengthening support systems for children with special needs.

The training aimed to equip both educators and parents with essential knowledge, practical strategies, and effective approaches in handling and supporting children with diverse learning needs. Recognizing that collaboration between teachers and families is crucial to a child’s development, the program created a shared learning space where participants could exchange insights and experiences.

Mr. Jerwin Vivas, resource person of the training seminar, is a devoted parent of a child with a disability, bringing invaluable first hand experience and insight into the journey of inclusive education and caregiving. Facilitators, Ms Aileen Grimaldo and Ms Jessica Villanueva, led the sessions on key topics such as individualized education planning, behavior management, inclusive classroom practices, and effective communication techniques. Parents were also guided on how to reinforce learning at home and better understand the unique needs of their children.

Through the District Grant, the Rotary Club of Grace Park led by Pres. Sonny Romuar was able to provide training materials, learning kits, and logistical support, ensuring a meaningful and well-organized event. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to gain new skills and build stronger partnerships between home and school.

The activity highlighted Rotary’s dedication to “Service Above Self,” focusing on education as a powerful tool for community development. By empowering SPED teachers and parents, the Rotary Club of Grace Park continues to make a lasting impact—helping create a more inclusive and supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed.
