End Polio Campaign: One Drop, One Hope for a Polio-Free World

In celebration of World Polio Day, the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong North (RCMN) spearheaded a meaningful End Polio Campaign for the month of October in coordination with the Mandaluyong City Government headed by Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos, RCMN Past President and City Councilor Junis Alim, and RCMN member and also City Councilor Benjie Abalos.

To create awareness, RCMN worked on the installation of the 'We are This Close to Ending Polio' banners that started on October 13, 2025, with District 3800 Good Governor Gina T. Sanchez, Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos, President Lhen Manlangit, and Past Presidents and club officers of RCMN. The banners will be posted until October 31, 2025.

As a highlight of the World Polio Day celebration on October 24, 2025,  the club together with the 14 other Rotary Clubs of the Mandaluyong Zone conducted and facilitated a colorful motorcade complete with motorcycle-riding traffic escorts and vehicles with End Polio Now stickers dressed up with red balloons placed on every vehicle, and with the Rotarians each wearing their End Polio Now T- shirts. Health workers and community volunteers came together to raise awareness about Rotary's continuing signature program to eradicate polio.

The motorcade traversed the major thoroughfares of Mandaluyong City with a Manny Pacquiao look-alike talent on board a dressed-up pickup truck to create extra energy, excitement, and awareness. The motorcade lasted for an hour until it reached the Andres Bonifacio Integrated School SHS Compound for the culminating event.

The culminating event was the “Isang Patak Para sa Polio-Free World” vaccination drive held at Andres Bonifacio Integrated School – Senior High School. With the support of the Mandaluyong City Health Office and barangay officials, at least 100 babies aged 0- 12 months from Sitio Panatag, Barangay Addition Hills were given their life-saving oral polio vaccines.

The activity not only protected the children from this preventable disease but also reminded parents and the community of the importance of continued immunization.

Through this impactful initiative, the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong North once again demonstrated its unwavering dedication to community service and create awareness in disease prevention, especially polio.

The campaign echoed Rotary’s enduring global call — “End Polio Now” — and showed that even the smallest act, a single drop of vaccine, can make a world of difference. Together, the club and community took another significant step toward a brighter, healthier, and polio-free future for all.
