On February 9, 2026, the Rotary Club of Marikina West dedicated an entire day of meaningful service activities. In the morning, the Club reached out through their service to mothers and children and in the afternoon, they inspired young dreams. By teaming up with the Club's partners-in-service, the day was a great reminder of the power of community collective action.
Morning: Nurturing Newborns, Compassionate Support to Mothers
Together with the Rotary Community Corps of Marikina West, 30 care packages were distributed to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers held at the Malanday Health Office, Marikina City.
A total of 30 thoughtfully prepared packs were donated, each containing:
- 3 milk bottles
- 1 baby cover
- 1 pack of baby formula
- 1 pack of baby wipes
The baby essentials that were distributed are a great help for mothers who are in the early stages of parenting. The outreach was not just about handing out items but showing the community that mothers are not left alone to face the challenges of motherhood.
Afternoon: Empowering Young Talents Through Music
The spirit of service continued in the afternoon with a donation to the Music Room of Tañong High School. This joint initiative brought together the Rotary Club of Marikina West, and its sponsored clubs - Interact Club of Tañong High School and the Rotary Community Corps of Marikina West.
To enrich the students’ musical experience and encourage artistic expression, the following instruments were donated:
- 1 acoustic guitar
- 2 ukuleles
- 1 acoustic beatbox
- 2 wireless microphones
Besides being the avenue for creativity and confidence, these musical instruments will also be the means through which the students will be able to evolve their talents and raise their voices through songs.
From caring for mothers and infants to investing in the creative potential of the youth, February 9 was a day filled with purpose and gratitude.
One day. Two meaningful projects. Hearts are truly full.
