RC Freeport Zone Subic Bay Advances Environmental Protection, Skills Development, and Community Health Through Multi-Service Initiatives

The Rotary Club of Freeport Zone (Subic Bay), led by President Marjorie Dizon, recently implemented a series of impactful community initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental sustainability, empowering livelihoods, and improving public health.

On April 21, 2026, the club, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Cainta, Rotaract Club of Freeport Zone, and the SBMA Ecology Department, conducted a Mangrove Clean-Up Drive.

The activity gathered Rotarians and volunteers committed to preserving coastal ecosystems, recognizing the vital role mangroves play in shoreline protection and biodiversity conservation. The initiative was further supported by the donation of over 1,000 seedling bags, 500 gloves, and essential tools such as wooden crates, shovels, weighing scales, and wheelbarrows to aid environmental restoration efforts.

Beyond environmental action, the club continues its commitment to livelihood development through Global Grant 2463935. The Hospitality Skills Training Program has already benefited more than 100 families, produced over 50 graduates, and engaged 20 dedicated volunteers.

This initiative equips participants with cruise-ready hospitality skills, opening pathways to employment in the global cruise and tourism industry. More than technical training, the program builds confidence, restores dignity, and provides sustainable opportunities that transform lives and futures.

In addition, the club’s Healthy Morning Project highlights its dedication to disease prevention and community wellness. The program reached over 200 families and supported more than 100 daycare students through basic health assessments, monitoring, and health education.

With the help of 15 volunteers, the initiative focused particularly on children and mothers, reinforcing the importance of preventive care and early intervention in building stronger, healthier communities.

Through these interconnected initiatives, the Rotary Club of Freeport Zone Subic Bay continues to embody Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self. By addressing environmental protection, livelihood development, and healthcare, the club demonstrates how holistic community service can create lasting and meaningful impact—one project, one family, and one future at a time.
